# Multiplayer & sharing

> Work together without giving up ownership.

Personal data doesn't have to mean solitary data. Some things are more useful together: a shopping list, a trip plan, or a collection of ideas.

## An invitation to the same data

Sharing lets you invite another person to selected data. They accept the invitation and can view it, or help edit it if you've allowed that.

The data stays in the owner's PDS. The other person gets access to it—not a separate copy in their own PDS, and not access to everything you own.

## Working together

When people can see each other's changes and work on the same information, we call that **multiplayer**.

Imagine a shared shopping list. One person adds bread; another checks off milk. Both are working on the same list, rather than sending updated copies back and forth.

The owner can end access later. That stops further access through Basic, but it can't take back information someone has already downloaded or copied.

Sharing should make your data more useful without making you give up control of its home.
